Vision Tech 3D Session: Shaping the Future of 3D Sensing: Photonics, Semiconductors, and the Drive for Intelligent Perception
21 January 2026 • 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM PST | West Expo Stage 2 (Moscone West, Exhibit Level)
This session explores the rapid rise of 3D sensing as a foundational technology across industries. With the global market expected to exceed $18 billion by 2030, growth is driven by expanding applications beyond smartphones into automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics. Key use cases include LiDAR for autonomous driving, 3D vision for factory automation, and depth sensing in AR/VR, robotics, and smart devices. The ecosystem is dominated by a few major players, with LG Innotek, Sony, and STMicroelectronics leading in modules and sensors. Technological innovation is reshaping the field, from CMOS imaging and time-of-flight to emerging trends like metasurfaces, metalenses, and SWIR sensors. The session will highlight which real-world applications are driving adoption, how the industry is evolving to meet new demands, and which innovations are poised to define the future of 3D sensing solutions. Attendees will gain strategic insights into market dynamics, competitive positioning, and technology trajectories.
