Professor Jian Ge, a research fellow at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and former tenured professor at the University of Florida, is a pioneer in exoplanet science. Holding a B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, he is renowned as the first Chinese-born scientist to discover an exoplanet—the real-world counterpart to Star Trek's Vulcan. He founded and leads major projects including the "Earth 2.0" satellite study and the Dharma Nearby Habitable Exoplanet Survey. He also established the MARVELS multi-object planet survey, collaborates on NASA's TESS mission, and contributes to the Chinese International 30-Meter Telescope. Recognized in Forty Years of Chinese Students Studying Abroad (2018), his extensive research has produced over 250 publications and multiple U.S. patents.
