Advancing Integrated Photonics: From State of the Art to PIXEurope Technologies (Invited Paper)
15 April 2026 • 11:20 - 11:50 CEST | Boston/Salon 11 (Niveau/Level 1)
Abstract
Integrated photonics is key to next-generation technologies, yet challenges remain in scalability, packaging, and testing. This talk reviews the state of the art in the main steps of next-generation PIC fabrication, like design, hybrid integration and packaging, and presents the novel technologies developed within PIXEurope to accelerate industrial adoption, reduce costs, and enable high-performance photonic systems.

ICFO - Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (Spain)
Dr. Stefano Signorini obtained his PhD in 2019 from the University of Trento, Italy, where he remained as a postdoctoral researcher until 2021. From 2021 to 2025, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Valerio Pruneri at ICFO, Spain.
During this period, his research focused on nonlinear integrated photonics, on-chip quantum light sources, quantum sensing, quantum communication, and integrated optical computation.
He is currently a Staff Scientist at ICFO, where he’s coordinating the hybrid integration activities.
