Optical design of freeform volume holographic and computational holographic display systems

14 April 2026 • 16:40 - 17:00 CEST | Madrid 2/Salon 4 (Niveau/Level 0)

Abstract

In this paper, the optical design of freeform volume holographic and computational holographic display systems is demonstrated and summarized. The use of freeform volume holographic element, combined with the joint optimization method of display system and recording systems, enables AR display systems with compact structure, reduced number of optical elements, and advanced functions. An end-to-end, system-level optical design framework of computational holographic display systems is presented, accounting for the entire optical path from the illumination source to the retina, enabling full-color achromatic and high-performance displays with depth perception.
