Panel Discussion: Autonomous Agriculture and Aquaculture: A 360° Perspective from Innovation to Adoption
28 April 2026 • 2:40 PM - 4:10 PM EDT | Potomac 1
Autonomous systems are rapidly transforming modern agriculture and aquaculture, yet their successful adoption depends on seamless integration across sensing technologies, intelligent decision-making, manufacturing, and real-world usability. This panel brings together experts from academia, industry, entrepreneurship, and farming communities to provide a holistic perspective on the development and deployment of autonomous agricultural systems. Discussions will span advances in sensing and AI-driven analytics, system design and scalability, commercialization pathways, and the critical role of end-user engagement. By connecting innovation with on-field realities, the panel aims to highlight both opportunities and challenges in building practical, scalable, and farmer-centric autonomous solutions.

Moderator:
Alex Thomasson, Mississippi State Univ.

Panelists:
Marcus McDonald, John Deere
Jeffrey Oleske, Hinalea Imaging Corp.
Rakesh Ranjan, Freshwater Institute

This panel is part of the Autonomous Air and Ground Sensing Systems for Agricultural Optimization and Phenotyping XI conference.
