Dr. Michael M. Mielke

Dr. Michael Mielke is Manager, Optical Engineering at L3Harris, where he oversees the optical design of mission-configurable imaging and targeting systems. He was previously Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at AdValue Photonics and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Iradion Laser. He has served as Chief Scientist, VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, Principal Investigator, Program Manager, and Research Scientist at both large and small photonics companies. Dr. Mielke has been awarded 23 U.S. and international patents, has published more than 20 refereed journal and proceedings articles, and has performed more than 40 technical presentations at interdisciplinary conferences around the world. In 2014, he was given the Professional Achievement Award from the College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Mielke has served as General Chair for CLEO Applications & Technology and Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics. He is a Fellow of Optica and a Senior Member of SPIE and IEEE Photonics Society. He has served on the program committees for Photonics West, ASSL, CLEO and ICALEO. Dr. Mielke earned his BS in Physics from the University of Florida and his PhD in Optics from CREOL at the University of Central Florida.
