Prof. Andrea Armani is currently the Sr. Director of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the Ellison Medical Institute and the Ray Irani Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on the development of new optical materials and instruments for accelerating therapeutic development and improving patient care. She received her BA in physics from the University of Chicago and her PhD in applied physics with a minor in biology from the California Institute of Technology. Her work has been recognized with several awards including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President Obama, NIH New Innovator Award, and Optica Hopkins Leadership Award. She is a Fellow of Optica, SPIE, AAAS, and NAI.
